Donna Schroeder is a realism artist painting primarily in oils. Her favorite subjects to paint are children and animals. With each painting Donna’s goal is to bring the viewer into the picture to experience the moment and spirit of what’s taking place. To achieve this goal Donna is very meticulous with every detail from the layout to the last stroke.
Donna was born in East Liverpool Ohio and spent her childhood on a small farm near there. She grew up with a love for nature and people and at a very young age tried to draw the things she loved. Today Donna is living out her artist dream in her home in Olympia Washington. The people she paints are mostly the loved ones around her. The animals are family pets or wildlife that she’s seen in her backyard or on hikes.
Donna has a God given talent that she has always nurtured through study of art reading and experimenting with different mediums. She had professional training in portrait with art instructor Jon Otis. She received more formal training in landscape art with art instructor Esther Bowen. Donna is new to the art world but is gaining recognition. She won a second place and peoples choice award in the 2000 Heritage art festival of Olympia for her painting Rebecca By The Sea. In 2001 she won peoples choice for her painting Little Mechanic at the Washington State fair.
When not in her studio Donna enjoys time with her family, gathering snap shots and reference material, hiking in the mountains and spending time with friends. She also volunteers her talent at church and is currently painting wall murals in the children’s wing.
